The control room for the Walker Bay aboard the Heimdall. The player is trapped in the control room when the breach event takes place.
U.S.S. Heimdall - Cafeteria
The cafeteria on the Heimdall.
U.S.S. Heimdall - Walker Bay
The Walker Bay, mid-breach event. Scripting-wise, the breach event is pretty tightly controlled, but allows the allied soldiers in the area to actually fight back if they respond quickly enough.
U.S.S. Heimdall - Hallway
The hallway connecting the Walker Bay and Walker Bay Control Room on the Heimdall.
Strogg Ship - Bridge 1
The Bridge of the Strogg ship. The player has to fight their way to the Bridge to disable the enemy cloaking device, and then work their way to the engine room.
Strogg Ship - Bridge 2
Another view of the bridge on the Strogg ship
Strogg Ship - Engine Room
Engine Room aboard the Strogg ship. The player must make their way to the engine room to disable their engines. The two ships in the level have distinctly different styles, lighting and texturing.
Strogg Ship - Main Hall
Main hall aboard the Strogg ship.
Strogg Ship - Engine Cooling Room
Engine Cooling room aboard the Strogg ship. Quake IV made pretty consistent use of contrasting blue and orange colors in the majority of their Strogg-controlled areas, and I tried to stick with that when creating the Strogg ship for this level.
Strogg Ship - Boarding Tether
The boarding prep/tether area of the Strogg ship. The minimal lore created for the mission described the Strogg ship as a sort of blitzkrieg vessel which was supposed to pull up next to enemy ships and quickly board them.
Description:
U.S.S. Heimdall is a single level for Quake IV created for the Directed Focus Study class at the Guildhall at SMU. The player is stationed aboard the U.S.S. Heimdall when it is boarded in mid-flight by Strogg invaders.
